THAT WOMAN'S VOICE

Now available to Theatres, Schools and Community venues

A one woman show and a tribute to Jean Cocteau and his 1930's play La Voix Humaine, That Woman's Voice stars Simona Continente in a dynamic and intertextual tale of obsession, passion, blackmail, sex, identity and death.

This is Simona's second appearance at the Camden Fringe, after appearing as 'Lili' in the Theatre Writers Workshop's all Trans production of the same name on the life of the first trans woman Lili Elbe.

This new play is centred on a woman, who alone in her flat, awaits her lover's call. Their relationship must come to an end. What is their secret? Caught up in a line that comes and goes, the couple's reality dramatically shifts into a subtle cat and mouse game. But things are rarely what they seem to be...

Written and devised by Islington based Simona Continente, the show features original music by acclaimed South East London based Raf and O, who deliver a soundtrack of compelling, soaring and strange lullabies as part of the new work.

The play is directed by Klarita Pandolfi, an Italian London based artist, former actress and music promoter who has worked extensively in Italy and in the UK.

LILI

Now available to Theatres, Schools and Community venues

Based on her 1930 diaries, this hour long show tells the story of Lili Elbe the world's first known trans woman to undergo full realignment surgery.

The play tells of the emotional journey Lili undergoes whilst coping with her new life as a transwoman, and her adjustment back into her former life as an established and well-known painter.

We learn of Lili's desire to have children and her pressing yearning for further operations to become who she really felt she was.

The show has been devised by an entire trans cast from a series of workshop sessions brought together by the Islington based Theatre Writers Workshop.

All the roles were performed by members of the companywho identify themselves as trans.

The company wanted to examine the challenges of living as a trans person, and demonstrate how important it is for trans people today to feel they can play an engaging and positive role in all aspects of society.

The play strives to celebrate the forgotten history of trans people through Lili's experience.

The play premiered at the Camden Fringe and is now available to tour schools and community venues.

The show enjoyed the support of the Arts Council of England, and Islington Borough Council
